AI with your own key
Docodez doesn't ship its own AI: you use the provider you choose, with your key. That way you know who receives each request and you only pay for what you use.
What it can do
- Translate a note (from its menu, Translate…) while keeping the formatting.
- Dictate in the editors, and translate while you dictate.
- Read the text in a photo (OCR) and split the objects in a photo in the photo editor.
- Whatever plugins ask for: for example, reading the fuel pump or the odometer in the Car Log.
Set it up
- Install the provider's plugin (OpenAI, Claude, Groq, Ollama or LiteLLM) from Settings → Extractors and plugins → Plugins….
- Open Settings → Extractors and plugins → AI providers….
- Paste your key (the dialog says where to get it). It is stored protected on your device.
- Test the connection and check that you agree to send your requests to that provider.
AI buttons appear by themselves when a provider is ready for that task. Each request shows a small window with the provider and a Cancel button.
Which one should I choose?
- Groq: fast, with a free tier with limits. A good place to start.
- OpenAI or Claude: very good; paid per use.
- Ollama: if you have a computer with a good graphics card, the models run at home and nothing leaves your network.
Always check what the AI returns before saving it: it can be wrong.
