Privacy policy
Draft: review before publishing. Still to confirm: the data controller, the contact address, the governing law, and what ads and the Cloud plan add once they exist.
Last updated: October 22, 2026.
The essentials
- Your documents are stored on your device. Docodez doesn't send them anywhere unless you do: when you share, save them to your cloud, sync them with Docodez Cloud or use an AI provider.
- We don't sell your data or use it for targeted advertising.
- You don't need an account to use Docodez Free or Pro.
What data is used and why
Your documents
Notes, pages, photos, PDFs and attachments stay in the .dcz files you choose, on your device or in the cloud folder (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox) you pick with the system file picker. In that case, that service stores them under its own terms.
Settings
Your preferences, profiles, plugin data (for example your shopping catalogs or your business details for invoices) and AI provider keys are stored on your device. Keys are protected with the system's secure storage.
Error reports
If Docodez closes because of an error, it can send a report to the Docodez server: the kind of error, where it happened, the version, the system and the device model. It never includes the content of your documents (the error message may name a file or a note). No third-party services are used. Turn it off in Settings → General → Send error reports to the Docodez server; turning it off deletes anything pending.
AI
AI features (translate, dictate, read the text in a photo, cut out objects) only work if you set up a provider with your own key and agree that data is sent to it. Each request sends the provider you chose only what is needed: the text to translate, the photo to read or the audio to transcribe. That provider handles it under its own terms (OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq, or your own Ollama server).
Camera and microphone
Docodez uses the camera only when you take a photo, and the microphone only while you dictate. Photos and recordings stay in your document.
Web pages you add
When you create a note from a web address, Docodez downloads that page from your device to save it in the note.
Ads (Free version)
When the Free version has ads, they will be shown with Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers according to your phone's ad settings. We will ask for the consent required in your country. Pro and Cloud have no ads.
Docodez Cloud (when available)
If you subscribe to Cloud, your documents are also stored on our servers to sync them and open them in Docodez Web, with backup. You can delete your account and all its data from the app or from the site.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data we have about you (in Free and Pro, only error reports) or ask us to delete it. Write to [email protected].
Children
Docodez is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will publish the new version here with its date.
